Day-by-Day Details
Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. Meet our friendly representative, who will transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Settle in, relax, and attend a briefing about the trek. Enjoy your first night at the base of Africa’s tallest peak.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Begin your trek at Marangu Gate. Hike through lush rainforest, spotting blue monkeys and exotic birds. Reach Mandara Hut by late afternoon. Take a short walk to Maundi Crater for stunning views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania. Overnight at Mandara Hut.
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Continue trekking through moorland, with the landscape changing dramatically. Enjoy views of the towering Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Arrive at Horombo Hut, where you spend the night.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Spend a day at Horombo Hut to acclimatize. Take a hike to Zebra Rocks or relax and enjoy the surrounding views. This day helps your body adjust to the altitude, increasing your chances of a successful summit.
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Trek through the Alpine Desert with a challenging but rewarding journey to Kibo Hut. Pass the “Last Water Point” and continue to the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi. Reach Kibo Hut and rest early in preparation for the summit attempt.
Day 6: Summit Day: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Start the final ascent at midnight. Trek through the dark with a steep climb to Gilman’s Point. Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement and take in the breathtaking views. Descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Make your way back down through the rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificates and transfer back to Moshi. Enjoy a celebratory dinner and reflect on your incredible journey before departing the next day.
